This Carlos Raposo from the Dão is a predictably lovely choice for those seeking a fruity and refined red. The cherry and raspberry notes, stemming from the Touriga Nacional and Aragonez grapes, are beautifully accentuated by a Burgundian influence – you can really taste those 18 months spent in oak barrels. James Suckling awarded it 92 points, noting a certain firmness, but with a wonderfully smooth texture and plenty of juicy character. It’s suggested these wines benefit from a few years of cellaring, hinting at a real depth and aging potential. Seriously delicious with a spicy dish or a good steak – a simple, enjoyable wine experience.
