Right then, let’s have a look at this one. This Conde Vimioso Reserva, hailing from the Tejo, clearly had a spirited chat with a new French oak barrique. The fermentation, running at a lively 25°C, no doubt coaxed the best from the Trincadeira, Syrah and Aragonez – bolstered by a dash of Castelão and Touriga Nacional for a welcome layer of complexity. Those 18 months in new oak certainly imbued it with a touch of boldness, while the Touriga Nacional partnered with Cabernet Sauvignon delivers a robust structure. Absolutely perfect with a good, grilled beef, wouldn’t you say?
