Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes with the ambition of introducing the world to Portuguese wines and a long‑term vision built on the quality of the wines they sell, the freshness of their brands, and the presentation of their products. Today, led by the third generation of the founding family, Sogrape Vinhos increasingly fulfills the goal it set at its inception: to be a family‑owned, internationally oriented company focused on producing quality wines, driving innovation, and developing Portuguese brands that compete on a global level. The company owns roughly 830 hectares of vineyards across Portugal. Since 1942, Sogrape Vinhos has invested heavily in the country’s leading wine regions, and the Alentejo region, in particular, has always inspired the desire to launch a project that would deliver the high quality of Alentejo wines to consumers. Consequently, in 1998 the acquisition of the Herdade do Peso estate was completed, quickly establishing itself in the national market for its ability to offer wines of varying complexity and styles.
