Sogrape Vinhos was founded in 1942 by Fernando van Zeller Guedes, with the ambition of introducing Portuguese wines to the world and a long‑term vision centred on the quality of the wines it sells, the importance of brand innovation, and the presentation of its products. Today led by the third generation of the founding family, the company increasingly fulfils the goal set at its inception: to be a family‑run, internationally oriented business focused on producing quality wines, innovating, and developing Portuguese brands of global stature. Sogrape Vinhos owns about 830 hectares of vineyards across Portugal. Since 1942 it has invested in the country’s main wine regions, and naturally the Alentejo region has always sparked the desire to launch a project capable of offering consumers the quality of Alentejo wines. Accordingly, in 1998 the acquisition of the Herdade do Peso estate was completed, quickly establishing itself in the national market for its ability to offer varying levels of complexity and styles of wine.
