This wine clearly shows a passionate approach – the Syrah and Touriga Franca have been treated with a touch too much enthusiasm in the vats, aiming for maximum extraction, as we all know can be a bit… intense. The Alicante Bouschet, meanwhile, enjoyed a cooler stainless steel sojourn, lending a welcome freshness to balance the boldness of the Syrah and Touriga Franca. Eight months in new French oak have refined the wine, but without sacrificing the forest-like aromas and ripe fruit that define it – a wine that, according to *Revista de Vinhos*, certainly deserves a respectable 88 points. Wonderful with game or hearty stews.
