This Dão wine from Quinta da Fata is a lovely reminder of old-fashioned winemaking. Grown on a gently south-facing slope, the grapes – Alfrocheiro, Jaen, Aragonez and Touriga Nacional – benefit from plenty of sunshine. Fermented on granite lagares with foot treading, and aged in French and American oak barrels, it’s developed a wonderfully complex and refined character, a style that’s garnered numerous international awards. Perfect with hearty meat dishes, game or strong cheeses, it’s a truly memorable pairing.
