The name Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno may not mean much to the most distracted, but he is no less than the great mentor behind the fine wines of Quinta das Bágeiras. The history of Quinta das Bágeiras already reflects the work of three generations; however, only in 1989, under Mário Sérgio’s stewardship, did they begin bottling and selling the estate’s wines, quickly becoming a benchmark in Bairrada and across Portugal. Although made following the traditions of previous generations, the Quinta das Bágeiras wines are not fads – they are always in vogue, revealing each harvest the character of the region and the people who produce them.
