It is at Velho Sobral where Cristina Simões, the founder’s daughter, grows up with her grandparents, learning the art of the land, playing, and most importantly discovering love—a love that continues to overflow with pride. She began her dream with sacrifice in 1997, acquiring new plots for her Velho Sobral, restoring old vineyards with fresh plantings, and building her cellar in 2000, constantly evolving the technology and space at her disposal. Quinta do Sobral now spans 15 hectares of vineyards in production and over 20 hectares of forest, essential to the terroir of Dão wine. Returning to sacrifice and betting on this project, Cristina Simões, a teacher by trade, and Jorge Loureiro, a hotel manager of a five‑star complex in England, form a passionate couple with shared ideas. They embrace Nelson Simões’s vision, and by realizing their dream, they leave behind their established careers to devote themselves entirely to Quinta do Sobral. We reach a turning point at Quinta do Sobral, but it was not Cristina and Jorge’s arrival that created this change; it was precisely the arrival of Maria, the daughter, granddaughter, and soul of the estate.
