This Alvarinho from Quinta da Aveleda is a beautiful reminder that quiet can be extraordinary. Grown on the steep slopes of Melgaço, close to 200 metres, and rooted in granite soils, it’s a wonderfully precise expression of terroir. The surrounding mountains keep things perfectly humid and bathed in sunshine, ideal for ripening the grapes and delivering a vibrant, intensely fresh wine – utterly sublime with seafood, particularly a generous plate of arroz de marisco or grilled prawns.
