This Alvarinho from Quinta da Aveleda/Soalheiro is a genuine testament to dedication – those hand-harvested grapes, grown on vines over 40 years old, seem almost to demand a little ceremony. The winemaking, combining stainless steel with a touch of aged chestnut wood (plus a fascinating pipotón fermentation!), clearly indicates a winemaster with a particular focus on texture. The result is a brilliantly vibrant white with aromas that unfold beautifully in the glass, and a powerful, fresh, and complex flavour – perfect alongside a generous plate of seafood or grilled fish. It’s a wine that certainly delivers on its promise.
