One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira – known as Ferreirinha – and which remains today in the hands of her descendants. Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten, but have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to occupy the top positions. Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado ranks among the oldest estates in the region. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Corgo River. The future of this iconic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of Ferreirinha, who oversee the business and enology, respectively.
