This Talhas Palhete do Tareco feels like it’s had a lively chat with a clay amphora – a wonderfully unrestrained fermentation, with no temperature control, clearly dictated by the wine itself. Expect notes of cherry and oak, a product of extended maceration, but the blend of Trincadeira, Aragonez, Antão Vaz and Roupeiro hints at a vineyard brimming with stories. Remarkably elegant, as affirmed by Grande Escolhas (17 points!), it’s a fantastic match for slow-roasted beef, perhaps with a touch of black bread.
