Quinta Nova

About this producer

Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is a wine and wine tourism estate with over 250 years of history, located in the Douro region, in Sabrosa, with stunning views over the river. Since 1999, the estate has been owned by the Amorim family. Quinta Nova combines a historical legacy with modern winemaking techniques. Wines and Grape Varieties Single Plot Wines: Quinta Nova is known for the diversity of its wines, which come from 41 individual plots where grapes are grown for the production of DOC Douro and Port wines. Grape Varieties: Although single-varietal plantings began about 40 years ago, most of the wines are still blends. The grape varieties used include the main ones from the Douro, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cão, as well as those from centenary vines, with about 80 mixed varieties. Wine Range: Quinta Nova offers a variety of wines, including: Quinta Nova Reserva Terroir: A blend of the main grape varieties, aged in French oak barrels. Quinta Nova Unoaked: An authentic and intense wine that proves it doesn't need barrel aging to be sophisticated. Quinta Nova Vintage: Wines from exceptional harvests that express the magnificent terroir of the estate. Mirabilis: Considered the estate's top wine. Grainha and Pomares: Other wine ranges produced by the estate. Production and Technology Wineries: The Quinta Nova winery, built in 1764, has been renovated and equipped with modern technology, while maintaining its original stone structure. Gravity: The winemaking process uses gravity to move the wine, avoiding the use of pumps. Aging: The wines are aged in new French oak barrels in underground cellars that maintain a stable temperature.
