Arinto

About this grape variety

A versatile white grape (also called Pedernã in Vinho Verde) grown across Portugal but most associated with Bucelas, where it produces some of the country's most age-worthy mineral whites. Arinto's calling card is searing natural acidity that holds wines through long ageing. Aromas tend to citrus, green apple, and an unmistakable lemony-mineral edge. As a blending grape it lifts and freshens Antão Vaz in the Alentejo and Fernão Pires across Lisboa. Capable of remarkable longevity in skilled hands.
