Grenache

About this grape variety

Known as Garnacha in Spain, where it originated, Grenache is one of the world's most widely planted reds — drought-tolerant and well-suited to warm, dry climates. The grape produces medium-coloured wines of high alcohol, ripe red-fruit and white-pepper aromatics, and supple tannin. It is the dominant grape of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, anchors many Côtes du Rhône blends, and produces Spain's most exciting modern reds in Priorat and Gredos. Old-vine Grenache is among the world's most prized varietal expressions.
