This Ferro da Ferradosa is a seriously robust wine, clearly built for a traditional approach. The patient, foot-treading fermentation in the lagares, bolstered by Touriga Nacional, delivers a wine with plenty of structure and tannins – don’t expect subtlety here! The judicious use of French oak contributes a nicely balanced acidity and hints of spice, and it’s a fantastic match with a hearty beef roast. You can really sense the character of the Douro schist soils in this one.
