This Paião Grande Reserva appears to have taken a little break from time itself before arriving on the scene. The deep ruby colour hints at the complexity to come – underpinned by Touriga Nacional’s dark berry notes and a touch of dark chocolate, balanced by the Alicante Bouschet’s robust character. The palate is a study in contrasts: firm tannins softened by a promising ageing potential, perfect alongside a hearty beef dish with a rich red wine reduction. Definitely a wine that deserves some breathing room in the cellar.
