This Pezat is a fascinating project – a deliberate rejection of the ‘aged’ label, driven by a desire to craft something truly special near Saint-Émilion. Rooted in the region’s characteristic clay-sandy soils and honed by the expertise of Château Teyssier, it’s a 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc blend demonstrating that tradition can, in fact, be remarkably refined. The meticulous winemaking, including temperature control and aging in French oak, has clearly impressed the judges – earning a remarkable 90/100 from Lisa Pettotti-Brown of The Wine Independent. A fantastic match with grilled beef, sea bass, or even a hearty white bean stew.
