This Vinhas Velhas from Quinta da Vegia clearly enjoyed a luxurious “spa day” before being tasted. It’s remarkably delicate, with whispers of red fruits and floral notes dancing on the palate, underpinned by a refreshing vegetal character. The wine, awarded 91 points by a respected wine publication, boasts incredibly smooth tannins – seemingly hesitant to assert themselves – and a lingering finish, as wise and patient as an old sage. Wonderful with duck or wild mushrooms, really.
