Douro

About this region

The Douro is one of Portugal's most emblematic regions, globally recognized for its unique, terraced vineyard landscapes and as the birthplace of Port wine. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, it is the world's oldest demarcated wine region (established in 1756) and extends along the majestic Douro River. The region produces both the famous fortified Port wines and high-quality Douro red and white wines.
